KNAP2: Brackish Water Area

KNAP2 is the continuation of the Kyu Nakakojo Art Project [The Former Naka Waste Incineration Plant Art Project] held in April 2007. With many rivers flowing through it, Hiroshima City is a “city of water,” which is reclaimed and built on what was a brackish water area. Yoshijima is one of the typical areas built on reclaimed land. This project starts by linking a mountain city with a waterfront city. Trees that are cut in the mountain are sent by way of the river and collected at the brackish water area where the flow of the river is counteracted by the flood of the sea. Yoshijima’s Boat Park Hiroshima, which used to be a timber pond, and the adjacent Former Naka Waste Incineration Plant are the venue for this exhibition, which examines Hiroshima from the local viewpoint.
